Your Questions, Answered
Do I have to pay to work with PhysiciansPRN?
There is no cost to you to work with PhysiciansPRN. Our search and placement services are completely free to you throughout the entire process.
How am I compensated?
As a locum tenens physician, your compensation is highly competitive and based on your specialty and the type of position you fill. PhysiciansPRN pays bi-weekly (every other week) on Fridays, either by check or direct deposit, based on your preference. Timesheets are due on the Monday of that week. There are numerous tax advantages to working as an independent contractor. We encourage you to consult with your tax advisor for details.
Who arranges the travel?
PhysiciansPRN will arrange all travel accommodations while you’re on assignment, including airfare, lodging, rental car, parking, tolls, gas, and mileage.
- Lodging: For short-term assignments, you’ll stay in a hotel. For long-term stretches – say, positions that last two to three months or more –– we provide you with an apartment or similar accommodation to make your time away from home as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
- Rental Car and Gasoline: We pay for a rental car and reimburse you for gas. If you work close to home, we reimburse you for your mileage at the current federal IRS rate of $0.65 per mile.
- Parking and Tolls: We reimburse you for all parking and tolls related to your assignment.
Will I receive health benefits?
As a locum tenens, you are an independent contractor and are responsible for providing your own healthcare coverage. Keep in mind that your health insurance premiums may be tax deductible. We encourage you to contact your tax advisor for more information.
Do you provide support during the credentialing process?
Absolutely. Once you find the right locums position through PhysiciansPRN, we work with you to secure all necessary credentialing prior to your start date, from completing applications on your behalf to tracking down needed information.
Do you help secure new state licenses?
Yes. We’ll gladly help you obtain new state licenses, as well as secure DEA registrations and Controlled Substance registrations if required.
Do you provide my malpractice insurance?
Yes. Our comprehensive coverage – provided through an “A” rated insurance company – is claims-made and maintains a retroactive date to our founding as a locum tenens agency. Once you complete our application and go through our credentialing process, you can work for us anywhere under our policy.
